for Parents, Guardians, and Other Family Members

The St. Louis Urban Debate League is committed to engaging parents and adult care givers/guardians of our student- debaters. We strive to achieve this in the following ways:

Tournament Open-Door Policy:  All parents/guardians and other family members are encouraged to attend SLUDL debate tournaments and watch their student-debaters in action! The tournament schedule can be found on the Calendar and Event Updates page.

SLUDL Board Open-Door Policy:  Parents and Guardians are encouraged to contact members of the SLUDL Executive Board throughout the year to express ideas or concerns and ask questions related to any aspect of SLUDL programming.

SLUDL Parent/Guardian Meetings:  At each tournament hosted by SLUDL, there will be a Parent/Guardian meeting from 3:45 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. If the tournament is a two-day tournament, the meeting will be held on the Saturday. Parents are welcome to stay for dinner, awards, and the final championship rounds of the tournament after the meeting.

Volunteer Opportunities:  Throughout the year, parents, guardians, and family members are invited to assist SLUDL staff with a variety of program activities including supporting after-school practices, volunteering at tournaments and special events, organizing activities for debaters and their families, fundraising, and more! If you are interested in volunteering for an event to help at a tournament, please contact Felicia Campbell. If you are interested in judging, please see our Resources for Volunteer Judges page.

Information and Announcements:  Our 2018-19 Program Schedule can be found on the Calendar and Event Updates page. SLUDL sends mass e-mails to parents and guardians requesting their volunteer service as judges at tournaments and announcing the results of tournaments. Information about special events is also sent out via e-mail. If you would like to sign-up to receive our e-mails, please send your e-mail address to
