Together, we can give students a positive outlet to express themselves and increase their self-confidence, help them develop essential life skills so they may positively contribute to their homes, schools, and communities, connect them with tools and resources to improve their academic performance, and prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
PARTNERING ORGANIZATIONS To maximize opportunities for our students and for the teachers who serve as debate coaches in the League, SLUDL partners with area organizations and institutions who strongly align with our work and mission. Our partners include:
Citi – Citi has sponsored the SLUDL City Championship Tournament in past years. Citi employees support SLUDL directly with generous contributions of time by serving as tournament judges and also with financial contributions.
Clayton High School – Clayton High School generously offered the school as a venue for this year’s Annual Fall Workshop. Debaters had the opportunity to attend workshop sessions as well as watch and participate in debate rounds.
Greater St. Louis Speech League – Providing coaching resources and peer coaching support.

Approximately 580 high schools are members of MSHSAA. MSHSAA conducts championship-level activities in 23 activities including Debate. National Speech & Debate Association (formerly the National Forensic Society) – The worlds largest national honor society for participants in speech and debate activities. The NSDA has generously provided free school membership and granted free lifetime memberships to qualifying students. The NSDA has also made its resource package (coaching resources, lesson plans, research guides, etc.) available to urban debate leagues free of charge.
National Urban Debate League (NAUDL) – NAUDL provides support for twenty-two urban debate leagues all over the country, including use of their Salesforce software, metrics and anyalytics for debate outcomes, and most notably, each year NAUDL hosts the Urban Debate National Championship (UDNC) Tournament and covers transportation, lodging, and most meals for one team of two students and the team’s coach to attend the tournament. NAUDL also host an annual Executive Directors’ Conference in the summer.
